Star Wars Episode VII has been in the news on a couple of different occasions this week. First off, the official title was revealed: “The Force Awakens.” Ambiguous, but a far cry better than “The Phantom Menace.”
Secondly, it was announced that principal photography has been completed. With a release date of December 18, 2015, that gives J.J. Abrams and the myriad crew plenty of time to work on effects, editing, post-processing and so forth.

Finally, while this next bit isn’t exactly current news, there were some rumors back in August that Disney is working on a Blu-ray release of the original, unaltered trilogy. I’m sure they are well aware that getting a high-def release of the original movies is just money waiting to be printed. With the new movie coming out next winter, it’s a perfect time to get the old fans back on board.
